When Music Drives Economic Development | MIDEM 2019

Music isn’t just a way of bringing people together, it’s an important way to showcase the creativity and vibrancy of cities looking to attract investment and develop local industry. During a panel discussion at Marché International du Disque et de l'Edition Musicale (MIDEM), Nik spoke about public-private partnerships, industry sustainability and how to avoid accidentally destroying the secret sauce that puts cities on the music map. Panelists included Linzi Goldthorpe (IFPI), Bonnie Dalton (Victorian Music Development Office), and Thomas De Pariente (City of Cannes).

Nik’s thoughts on these issues are also summarised in “Breaking down musical barriers | CROSS-BORDER MUSIC” in this year’s MIDEM Insights Industry Trends Report (p 6-9).

A big thank you to our friends over at Sound Diplomacy for organising the Music Cities Summit at MIDEM.
